God I love the marathon. I love the struggles, the triumphs, the costumes, the wobbly legs, the cups of water poured over sweating heads, I love the whole damn shebang from Mile 1 to Mile 26. Just don’t ask me to take part. I’ll cheer you from my sofa and maybe bung you a couple of quid if you’re doing it dressed as a rhino or something but I like a screen between me and horrible, horrible reality. But this year I might venture outside for once. Not to do anything as dumb as running but to drop in on the Adidas Runners X The Hoxton Marathon Weekender. Saturday is all about the runners with a stretch-a-thon (which I might take part in) and sports-themed hair bariding and manicures (which I might skip). Sunday is a celebration for the now-battered runners and their support staff – think fizz, food, tunes, sports massages and more.
