Classic Records was Derrick Carter and Luke Solomon having fun and putting out tunes that few could touch in their pre-internet, 90s heyday. So when Luke revitalised the label in 2010 with Defected, house heads of a certain age took note. But of course Classic never bothered looking back because they were too busy getting down right here, right now. And they’ve not done a London party in a minute, so this Pride weekend hook up with the similarly open-minded High Hoops party crew is timely. Starring guest is Classic’s homegirl Honey Dijon, a house music veteran out of Chicago but who came of age as a DJ in 90s NYC. Plus there’s London house mainstays Dan Beaumont, Sophie Lloyd and Michelle Manneti, alongside Mr Solomon on the decks too.
