Allow me to introduce you to Ella. She’s popular, a social media addict, Queen of the Selfie, and she’s also mixed-race. Her booming YouTube channel is full of make-up tutorials, opinions and family videos – greedily lapped up by her followers. But after one of her videos goes viral, Ella finds herself stuck in the middle of a social media storm that sweeps her family up with her, in an equally catastrophic way. With her perception of beauty and her identity being thrown into question – can Ella learn to promote self-love without harbouring hate?

Hate to leave you hanging, but you’ll have to go to the Arcola Theatre to find out (and it will be worth the wait…).

After selling out last year, Lynette Linton’s 5 star play #Hashtag Lightie is back – so make sure you don’t miss out this time around. Linton’s play is an honest and hilarious exploration about what it’s like to be mixed race in modern Britain; think heart-warming stuff, served with a big dollop of sass.
