Okay this is a big one. In fact, maybe cue this up to soundtrack your little read here. In January Let’s Play Vinyl opened at Goldsmiths College as part of a larger celebration of soundsystem culture in the UK. The photographic show by Elliot Baxter features portraiture of the current generation of soundsystem players across the country. Beyond the photos (which will be on display to Feb 9th), the college is holding a bunch of parties, talks and hands-on workshops digging deep into the culture and legacies behind this key component to reggae music. Tonight’s launch party should be a big one, but if you can’t make it, check out their site for a list of all the goings on.
