How much?

Patrick Keiller’s London is the film this wonderful city deserves; complex, mysterious, hypnotic. It’s a shaggy dog story; our unnamed narrator, voiced by Paul Scofield, tells his companion, Robinson, about the death of Romanticism while the pair trawl the hidden streets of the city. Truth be told it’d be a wonderful film even without the narration – Keiller has an eye for the luminous, magical side of the city and the views of places like the back streets around St Pauls are alive with that special London light, but the gentle, wistful tone of the story adds another level to a gorgeous love letter to the place we live.
