Things that take place in the dark are better. Fact. Whether it’s a strange play down in Battersea, in which the lights are hit and a very unusual scene unfolds (unfortunately you’ve missed this) or, this week, a more intimate variation on a theme: Music in the Dark. Romancers, get ready. Unique and intimate, Music in the Dark celebrates the better side of acoustic music in three special performances. But there’s more to the three sessions than simply hitting a light switch. Walthamstow-based artist and musician Jean-Pierre Mas promises to take his audience on a journey in the dark through Oriental, Spanish, Gypsy and Celtic soundscapes. A listen to Mas’ sounds will give you a quick glimpse into the close-feel night that’s going to be served up. At candlelit levels, a night played to by Mas would already feel snug. Prepare for in the pitch black with only low-level French murmurs coming at you, this promises a “totally different sensory experience.” Book in advance.
