2018 has been a humdinger of a year already, hasn’t it? Amongst all the raucousness, there’s been one artistic milestone that’s been waving its flag of positivity defiantly all summer long.
The RA summer exhibition is celebrating its Sestercentennial (250th anniversary, for you and me) and has put on all its bells and whistles. Curator Grayson Perry and his committee have selected 1,300 artworks, with the list reading like a who’s who of the fashionable art world. Tracy Emin, Anish Kapoor, Banksy, Joana Vasconcelos and David Shrigley are just a few of the well-known names gracing the walls, floors and ceilings of the esteemed venue. Oh, and the courtyard.
Sunday 19 August sees the exhibition close to the public, so you’d better get your metaphorical skates on if you want to catch it!
