Time Out magazine is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, with the first pocket-sized issue published on August 12 1968. Since then they’ve expanded to publish almost 2,500 issues in London and many more in other Time Out cities around the world. To mark the big birthday, they’ve collaborated with the Museum of Brands in Ladbroke Grove to showcase fifty of their best covers. With print issues on display date right back to that very first magazine in 1968, through the radical ’70s and glitzy ’80s and ’90s and through to the present day. Check out cover stars like David Bowie, Elton John (who guest edited Time Out in 2004) and Joanna Lumley, and designs by Tracey Emin, Banksy and Gorillaz mastermind Jamie Hewlett as well as legendary Time Out designer Pearce Marchbank and other talented staff designers and anecdotes from editors. It’s basically one massive time machine through 50 years of design, pop culture and city life. Entry to the rest of the museum is included so don’t miss out on this mind-boggling collection. Nostalgia guaranteed.
