This one-off production is designed to go off script as two performers meet onstage for the first time to act out a scene together. One follows the words written on the pages in hand, while the other responds in the moment to create a unique, exciting evening of theatre. The cast, made up of improvisers from The Free Association and Austentatious and actors from TV and stage, will take over the main space at the Arcola Theatre where Amy Jane Cook’s set for Mike Bartlett’s Not Talking currently stand. What will happen to the characters of Uncle Glen’s Menagerie is anyone’s guess, but it won’t happen again. Their encounters may make you laugh, cry or leave you feeling confused, but that’s what makes it such a thrilling choice. No need to worry about reading any spoilers or having to familiarise yourself with a classic text, just sit back and watch the action unfold.
