The RA are kicking off the new year in a way many of us have been attempting – by avoiding reality. Virtually Real is a collaborative project from HTC Vive and the Royal Academy School, combining virtual reality technology and digital art.
The exhibition features virtual artwork from Royal Academy School alumni, which you can walk through, over and under as it is created around you (think sculpture without the physical limitations of gravity).
Throughout the night there will be DJs, snacks and drinks, and you’ll even have the opportunity to paint your own virtual 3D masterpiece using Google’s Tilt Brush software. And in a world first, these digital artworks will be 3D printed and physically exhibited. For real.
