If the imminent release of Wes Anderson’s new film Isle of Dogs doesn’t have you wagging your tail like a Beagle on blue smarties – then you must be barking mad. It’s not only the visionary director’s first stop-motion feature since Fantastic Mr Fox, but his first feature since 2014′s The Great Budapest Hotel. With a cast of Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton, Bryan Cranston, Yoko Ono, Greta Gerwig et al, narrating you through a boy’s search for his lost dog on Trash Island – a place full of stranded quarantined dogs off the coast of Japan – you know it’s gonna be good and quirky AF. But it gets better. One week before the film’s official release, just when you feared you might spontaneously combust, The Strand’s Store X is hosting a free exhibition where you can see Wes’ doggy dawg puppets in the flesh. But the joy just doesn’t end there; it will keep pouring out every orifice with exclusive Isle of Dogs pop-up sets, a ramen noodle bar inspired by the film, headed up by Akira Shimizu (executive chef at Soho’s Engawa), plus sake cocktails – all for you to sink your cheeky paws into.
