Well-equipped with heaters, blankets, eggnog on tap and generous amounts of cheese; Woody Bear is fighting off the cold on their winter edition rooftop. The latest incarnation of the Marble Arch venue, previous host of summer-hit Sisu, is an urban fairground meets Alpine cottage featuring swings, a teacup ride booth, see-saws and wood panelled walls. Gin Punch, Boozy Eggnog and a Cheese Shack, courtesy of Madame & Monsieur, all add to the festive feeling. Dig into a perfect grilled cheese sandwich or a London Raclette with Jambon de Montagne, potatoes and heaps of melted cheese while sampling The Smokin’ Goat Fizz, a gorgeous mix of mezcal and gin. We might have tried one or several of the DBL Dip Punch as the evening went on; served in half-litre jars, these gingery pots of goodness will keep us going until Christmas. Wrapped in a blanket, digging into a Mont d’Or on a heated al fresco rooftop overlooking London; it is the making of a great winter season.
