Globalisation has been a driving economic force for decades; it has lifted people out of poverty and led to increased democratisation across the world. Andreas Gursky’s iconic photographs perfectly captures its success and as well as its depravity. In light of this, Southbank Centre is hosting a talk on the future of globalisation and global capitalism; punctuated by masterpieces from the current Gursky exhibition. The keynote speaker is Yanis Varoufaki, former finance minister of Greece and co-founder of grassroot allegiance DiEM25. He will present his take on the issues connected to globalisation, whether internationalism can be an antidote and his new book; ‘Talking to My Daughter About the Economy: A Brief History of Capitalism’. It’s bound to get heated.
