E17 Art Trail
Ahhh...pretty Walthamstow... not a much frequented spot on my map of London - but an interesting destination just the same. And not just because of the provisional Jehovah's Witness preacher situated outside the National Rail station. No, this weekend sees the wrap of the E17 Art Trail, which for ten days each year celebrates the astonishingly abundant creativity in the borough. The trail covers a massive area with 200 exhibitions in 120 venues from 1200 participating artists. Check out Paul Greenleaf's 60s and 70s postcard-style landscapes of the area in the
The Walthamstow Tapestry (after Grayson Perry) or the fantastic
Paekakariki Press which hosts typsetting workshops for beginners on the weekend. There are bike tours at 6pm on weekdays and a hop on-off bus on Saturday. Happy trail! /
