How much?
£8.90 for the full Annapurna thali

Back in the dim and distant past, when I was a starving student, Diwana was my second home. It was unspeakably exotic to a suburban boy – Indian food that wasn’t a greasy curry – it was filling, and most importantly, it was cheap. Nowadays, with southern Indian food on very high street Diwana isn’t the oddity it once was but it’s still an absolute bargain. The decor is more canteen than curry-house, and you still bring your own beer from the offie two doors down, but it doesn’t matter because the food has stayed wonderful. Paper-thin dosas are served with silky dahl, the bhel-poori is as good as any in London and the Annapurna thali is still a full and delicious meal for a student-pleasing price of under a tenner. Long may it reign
