Two words: Mango. Butter.
This mind-blowing spread comes with still-warm sourdough at the beginning of the meal at Amber, an innovative new Middle Eastern joint tucked away down a back street in Aldgate. It adds just the right amount of sweetness – and I would go back for it alone.
Thankfully though, nothing on the menu disappoints. Traditional dishes like humous and pita tick every box alongside creative fusion dishes – such as Ezme, a Middle-Eastern take on ceviche: salmon tartare and chili. Everything is built to share: not least the gigantic, succulent glazed lamb shoulder which comes with labneh, chili butter and pita croutons (!).
It’s an all-day kinda place, and there’s definitely enough on the menu to keep you there from noon til night.
