Mains: £16-£30; Cocktails £8-ish

Jumping on the British butchery bangwagon like the best of us, Jamie Oliver has taken it a smokey step further and teamed up with America’s BBQ emperor Adam Perry Lang to put together a Tom Dixon-designed shrine to meat. Barbecoa is etched into a glassy corner of the new New Change shopping complex in the City, and boasts argument-inspiring views of St. Paul’s (“There’s no way Peter Crouch is as tall as that cross; you’re blind!”). The smart but affable atmosphere will appeal to City-boys, tourists and the rest of us alike. They’ve nailed the cocktails – try a Negroni or Dark and Stormy before dipping into some ribs or pickled vegs. Meat (pork, steaks, chicken, lamb, burgers, and ribs) comes via the robata grill, Texan smokers, fire pits or tandoor ovens, which have all been specially installed on site. Git on down there y’all. And come hungry. / Chloe McCloskey
