If you don’t know Club Mexicana from Kerb and Streetfeast, now’s the time to get acquainted. They have a new home at Pamela, and they’re doing some pretty amazing things with food. And not just any food – 100% vegan Mexican street food. The menu is so exciting we order a generous selection of plates, none of which disappoint. Particularly flavoursome are corn on the cob smothered in a creamy chilli crumb, deliciously glazed aubergine with sour cream and crispy ‘chicken’ wings with salsa verde. We also try their twists on ‘meaty’ classics, such as the Baja To-fish Taco (every bit as good as a fish taco) and the pulled pork-esque Jackfruit Pancake (this one’s a biggie). It’s expertly created, beautifully presented, and perfectly seasoned (with a good chilli kick). Veggies – welcome to heaven. Meat lovers – you won’t believe it’s not butter, or cheese, or fish. Some of the best food I’ve had in ages. It just happens to be vegan.
