Tucked away on the second floor of a pub, this is an usual little find.
“Follow the light at the end of the rabbit hole” the instructions on the door at the back of the pub read. And the vibe transforms as quickly as you can travel one flight of stairs, walk past the loos, and in through a small doorway – the sounds of drinking and general pubbing just below hardly penetrate this oasis of calm, and what does escape the floorboards is quickly drowned by a suitably dandy playlist.
Drama Parlour is a newly opened and beautifully decorated hair studio manned by the brilliant Victoria Saunders who’s set up several award-winning salons all over London, worked on video shoots and several film sets, and her team. The atmosphere is wonderfully relaxed, although it’s late on a Thursday (Drama Parlour stays open until 9.30pm Wednesdays and Thursdays), and the cut and blow dry immaculate. We left feeling great, and couldn’t help but stop for a quick pint on the way out.
