It is amidst sighs of reluctance and following great deliberation that I have decided to unveil the greatest Indian restaurant in all of London. A far cry from the hit and miss palaver of Brick Lane, Durbar is a welcoming west London institution with a menu that boasts dishes from all over the Indian sub-continent. Having feasted at this curry house for well over ten years, my cultivated favourites include the aloo tikki choley chaat starter of fresh coriander potatoes cakes with tamarind chutney, the brinjal bhajee aubergine side and the sizzling Durbar specialty of succulent Lorient special chicken finished off with a comforting bowl of cardamom infused rassomalai. With ingredients that are aromatic, fresh and deliciously robust, it’s no wonder my curry loyalties lie firmly in the backstreets of Bayswater. Yours should too. / Rosa Kaftan
