There’s nothing smug about this spot. Everyone likes pizza, everyone eats pizza. So let’s not feel bad about it. OK. But sometimes it’s good to mix it up a little bit – if only just to build ourselves up for the weekend, before we break ourselves down again. Founder Steven Novick who has good reasons, beyond vanity, for caring about the nutritional value of the food he serves, has a dedicated doctor, a nutritionist and chefs on hand to help build the menus at Farmstand. And his passion seems to have worn of on the staff he employs, who at the time of our visit are right-out lovely and truly understanding about our desperate need for a Sunday hangover – the recommended beetroot juice did the trick. Other favourites included the Harissa chicken, and an absolutely delicious Puy lentil mix with mushrooms and chervil. It’s a hard balance to strike: a concept that is healthy and genuinely good for you – without all that guilt. Good for lunch, but also open in the evening for dinner and wine (yes, the point is you don’t have to abstain from all the wonderful things in life if you eat well).
