I went on a date to Joe’s Southern Kitchen and as it turns out it’s the same place I took a date about 15 years ago. Back then it was called Navajo Joe’s and just like Burt Reynolds playing a Navajo, it didn’t really make sense. However with London’s current American food obsession, Joe’s Southern Kitchen makes more sense. If you’re looking for a quick, relaxed (unhealthy) bite with friends (or a date) in town, Joe’s is a good shout. The BBQ chicken wings were tangy and finger lickin’, the beer can chicken looked amazing (the guys next to us had it), and the butter milk marinated, pressure-fried, southern chicken was tender but fabulously crispy. Any number of chicken dishes can be accompanied with a good beer like Anchor Steam. This of course helped move the date along swimmingly. And like all good dates, the evening ended with sticky fingers and complimentary wet wipes.
