Tucked away behind Kensington High Street, Maggie Jones’s has been a favourite haunt among locals for over 40 years. Previously known as Little Nan’s, it renamed in honour of their most famous client, Princess Margaret, who booked under the alias ‘Maggie Jones’. As the name suggests, Maggie’s is warm, friendly and traditional British. It’s all about comfort, from the cosy rustic setting to the menu full of classic dishes, featuring roasts and pies. The tart of the day (AKA the best quiche I’ve ever had) is everything you want from a pastry-based savoury – a slice of cheesy crispy love. The creamy fish pie and cauliflower cheese are equally comforting. It’s a challenge but if you can leave room for dessert the Chocolate Pot is not to be missed. Topped with a cocktail menu, great selection of wine and fantastic service, Maggie’s is a real hidden gem, and incurably romantic.
