I don’t live anywhere near Shepherd’s Bush, but the reputation of Mr Falafel can’t keep me away any longer. And it’s probably the most well worth it journey across London I have ever taken. The queue is out of the door and in front of me someone places an order for eight falafels to bring back to the office and the immaculate process of producing the most beautiful of sandwiches begin. The menu offers over 12 options and combinations, including falafel with feta cheese, avocado, fried aubergine, pitted olives – the list goes on. I go for the classic falafel wrap for £3 and I’m just gobsmacked by the taste explosion in my mouth. It’s just too good for words. You have to try it. It’s a bit tricky to find, the market has plenty of mediocre falafel stands, but find Mr Falafel in the New Shepherd’s Bush Market, across from a clothing stall just off the Uxbridge Road. It sounds harder than it is. Now I have to think up some excuses for going west. /Farah Dib
