New Tom’s is a 12-month pop up at Tom’s Deli, with Tom Straker at the helm of a much-loved Tom Conran premises. The interior has been totally revamped, with much of the previous deli-quirk being replaced by chic, dark wood fittings. All this leads us to the conclusion that this is not so much a pop-up as a trail-run to a very much permanent fixture. And, having visited, we bloody hope so too. We have to answer an obvious concern when dining in this post-code, yes; it’s expensive. But then West London is expensive and for the most part, the food doesn’t match the price tag. Breakfast will set you back between £10-13.50 but it will also tide you over for the whole day. It will also haunt your dreams. The slow cooked duck egg and the heavenly sweet onion brioche has been giving us food flashbacks ever since we sat down to it. Their sourdough is unrivalled outside of E5 and with a wide range of freshly squeezed, generously portioned juices and smoothies, there is not a breakfast base left uncovered. At present the garden is solely home to a lovingly tended smoker. Soon it will also accommodate a large outdoor seating area. There is a rumour of a cocktail bar that will smoke the water with which it makes its ice. Apparenty with multiple Tom’s come multiple strings to multiple bows.
