The American food phenomenon just won’t quit and we are okay with that. The latest addition to London’s fried chicken scene, Slim Chickens, hails from the south itself where founder Tim Gordon kicked the eatery off frying up goods out of his own Fayetteville, Arkansas garage. Fast forward 15 years and the authentic made-to-order kitchen has landed in James Street. Its bright look, friendly service and a big free refill soda counter certainly brings you right back to the USA. The wide variety (there is a choice of 12!) of dips and sauces are absolutely packed with punch reminiscent of some of the crazy crisp flavours found Stateside. And the sweet homemade lemonade (not 7up/Sprite) will put a smile on any sour face. Our favourite item, the hand-breaded chicken tenders, are juicy and well, very tender and actually we’d say worth the trip into town to try. This is not an organic, gourmet chicken shop; it is unabashedly American indulgence fare and it’s delicious.
