It was a Friday night when we ventured here, pub drinkers were spilling out onto the streets and a feeling gripped me that I was out of familiar waters. There’s something about this neck of the woods that reminds me why I fell in love with London, with this restaurant in particular conjuring a nostalgic Ye Olde feel. The place itself is small, and can feel squashed but this only adds to the atmosphere. The variety, finish and attention to detail when it came to the food was top notch.  Whether it’s oysters, the mackerel pate or fish pies you’re after there’s something for everyone. The menu does extend beyond fish and you won’t be disappointed. Not the sort of place you’d visit in a large group or for drinks, but for two people venturing out you’d be hard pressed to find a more friendly snug. / Firas Waez
