How Much?

The WWW is 28 years young, and despite what your dad said it’s got pretty popular. So popular that we’re ploughing on relentlessly towards smart cities, the internet of things, virtual reality – the future. It is now up to us to remind the youth and future generations of a time when Archie was the only search engine, you couldn’t order pizza online, images were made from keyboard characters, and eBoy pioneered pixel art. To refresh your memory of the World Wide Web’s brief but glorious past pay a visit to 64 Bits, an exhibition of the web’s lost past in 64 seminal moments. You can browse the first-ever website, take home you own ASCII portrait, and decipher some Susan Kare original computer iconography. On your way to Here East in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park you can also genuinely say that you remember when all this was fields/building sites.
