Is jelly a cool craft or a strange luxury? Are bespoke shoes a must-have utility item or akin to the Emperor’s New Clothes? The Craft Council for the LDF is exploring whether craft is the new language of luxury. To investigate (and sway you towards ‘yes’) they present the Added Value? exhibition. On show are Materials with jeweller Zoe Arnold’s work (including some manipulated ephemera), Traditional Skills in the form of Oliver Ruuger whose reworking of gentlemen’s briefcases knows no bounds, Brands with designer Simon Hasan and fashion-house Fendi’s bespoke mannequins. There’ll be The Bespoke with carréducker’s carefully handcrafted shoes, banned from leaving the workshop until they’ve gone through 200 processes, Experience with those Bompas & Parr chaps who take jelly to new heights (namely Selfridges’ roof), and more. So is it all worth it? Go and find out. / Claire Tayler
