When Alice fell down the rabbit hole she didn’t find herself in a sparkling and shimmering world of lights and lanterns, but you can this Christmas. Taking place in Southwark Park, this immersive and enchanting fantasy world features thousands of lights, all on the theme of Alice in Wonderland – or Winterland, if you will. Over 160 lanterns light a trail that takes visitors through the story of both Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. Highlights include a five-metre tall Alice, life-size Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, and giant chess board among the 29 interactive and immersive scenes taken from Lewis Carroll’s books. And of course, Santa will be hanging out in his grotto, ready to dish out presents to good girls and boys, whilst adults can indulge in some tasty street food and mulled wine.
