David Dimbleby is one of the most respected broadcast journalists in the country. His talk will be followed by a private view of possibly the most respected painter this country has ever known. It is half-part hilarious, half-part tragic therefore that I can guarantee any Q&A, on the evening in question, will revolve around a small, black, scorpion tattoo on Mr Dimbleby’s shoulder. Blame the internet. If all tattoo topics are sufficiently exhausted, it will be an amazing opportunity to hear about Britain’s maritime past from a man who has been immersing himself in the subject for some time ahead of an ongoing BBC series. The Turner private view that follows provides a double header that will have even the sturdiest sea-legs quivering with excitement.
