Nestled cosily under the bridge outside the Southbank Centre, the aptly named ‘Bar Under the Bridge’ brings you a little bit of a mini chalet experience in the heart of London. Cosy up in the colourful booths decorated with skis on the walls. Sip on warming drinks including mulled wine, spiced apple cider and Bailey’s hot chocolate. Or why not try the Espresso Martini? This rich dark cocktail has a lovely hint of toffee and a strong punch of coffee.
When you feel hunger strike, take a peek at their deliciously cheesy choices. Headed up by French chef Cédric, the menu includes baked camembert and croque monsieur filled with gruyère and homemade bechamel. For lovers of ham, a fresh charcuterie plate comes to you from the north of Spain. However, the winner was the ham crêpe. This warm treat filled with ham, egg and cheddar is topped with crème fraîche and a sprig of rosemary, which gives it a wonderful earthy flavour.
