The 70s and 80s were tumultuous times around the globe but the pinnacle of debauchery, artistic freedom, grime and glamour was certainly New York. If nostalgia hits you up for these good-ol’ days of creative and cultural change, we recommend you grab the popcorn and let the Barbican Cinema take you on a trip down this grimy memory lane. Featuring some of our favourite movies of the decade; catch the Queen of Pop in Desperately Seeking Susan or a triple bill of CBGB’s best featuring Talking Heads, Patti Smith, Blondie and Ramones. This film series is part of a celebration for the Boom for Real exhibition, showing off the epic hometown of Jean-Michel Basquiat, but also an opportunity to revel in the talent the city produced. Whether you go for the exhibition or the talent, these films are great and we want to see them.
