What better way to beat the recession blues than to immerse yourself in some amoral, trisexual, hard-bodied, business card brandishing, squash playing 80s New York fiction. For our darker sides it’s pure escapism and for the tree-hugger in us it’s a warm and fuzzy reminder that all of the money and power in the world won’t stop you bludgeoning prostitutes to a Phil Collins soundtrack. For a lesser known take on the era, head to the Etcetera pub theatre in Camden for Howard Korder’s Boy’s Life. Before penning Boardwalk Empire the US playwright earned a Pulitzer Prize nomination for this tale of three 20-something males and their sexual frollickings.
