“It’s great because you get to stay up late and eat popcorn,” said six-year-old Lois about the Camberwell Free Film Festival. And I thought he made a very good point. So tonight I’m going to the Remakery on Brixton Hill to see French comedy Micmacs – with popcorn and probably a school night beer. The Remakery is a community space in a disused garage, used by enterprising individuals to upcycle waste. It’s a fitting stage for Micmacs, which tells the story of Bazil who befriends a group of artists and scavengers – an endearing group of misfits who help him avenge his father’s death. Elsewhere in Camberwell, Withnail and I is showing at The Recreation Ground pub. The festival continues all week. / Sara Lou
