I kinda promised myself that I wasn’t going to write about Classic Album Sundays for a while after the last one. “Everyone who’s interested knows about them now”, I reasoned. “Besides it’s the same kind of thing each week”. And then, of course, they choose the week of Record Store Day (ie Glastonbury Week for vinyl fetishists) to launch a whole new series of nights at an ace venue. The new series is a venture into the worlds of jazz, classical and world music (at last), and the new venue is the ace Princess Of Wales in Primrose Hill – home to a legendary vegetarian Sunday lunch and a fierce pub quiz. They kick the whole shebang off with Stravinsky’s Firebird and Rites of Spring, though I doubt there will be riots this time around.
