While Kendrick seethed and spat some of the most powerful bars of his career, Drake and Kanye never broke out of a canter and still found themselves beside him on the podium. Drake dropped an album recorded in second gear that still tore up the charts; Kanye dropped a couple of hits with a Beatle, two fashion lines and a baby. Their ability to coast through one of the greatest years for hip-hop in recent memory is a testament to the catalogues of pure musical gold that they have built in their years as artists.
