Dub is to dance music what Delia Smith is to cooking. Without Delia’s prim and proper teachings there’d be no Jamie and his funky leeks; and without dub music Skream would just be Oliver Jones and your uni years would’ve been soundtracked by the Stereophonics and not Massive Attack. This Friday sees a small but perfectly formed celebration of the super-genre in a 200 capacity sweat pot in Finsbury Park. Lee Scratch Perry’s apprentice, the Mad Professor, will serve up dub offerings of the nostalgic variety. He will be joined by African Head Charge Soundsystem, Incient Angel, Lioness Fonts and Fenomino Show with MC Samurai. Rest assured that the soundsystem will be hefty so come early and be ready to feel the rumble. / Clare Considine
