It’s the Marmite of TV shows. For every person for whom Eurovision is the very pinnacle of naffness with its costumes and wind machines and uber power ballads there another for whom its as if the campest of Christamasses had come in May. If you’re in the latter camp then you might want to be with like-minded individuals on the hallowed day and Dalston’s Rio Cinema is where we’d head to. There’s Portuguese food and cocktails in celebration of the host nation, a karaoke competition that people take VERY seriously and then the main event; the long hours of the actual contest on the big screen. Chuck in a late-night Eurovision disco and you have nine straight hours of glitzy madness.
