Are you Scrooges ready to journey to the North Pole to hear the true story of Christmas? Hop on board The Artic Express and let Ed Snow et al hit you with festive assault on all of your senses. With mulled wine and Christmas cocktails (Elf-tini anyone?), you won’t be able to deal with the Christmas cheer churning up inside of you. The specialist menu has been curated by Louisa Ellis of Masterchef fame and starts with an amuse bouche of creamy caramelised cauliflower velouté sprinkled with crispy onions. The starter is a stunning celebration of charred artichokes, and the main is an elevated Christmas dinner staple, think three-bird roast with crispy chicken skin or a densely packed mushroom and stuffing Wellington, both served with a rosti of your dreams and parsnip purée so smooth it’ll slip and slide its way into your little grinch heart. Finishing off your culinary journey to the North Pole is a delightfully light poached pear and salted caramel ice cream dessert that comes with vanilla snow, cute huh? Funicular (the team that brought you The Murder Express and Journey to the Underworld) manage to combine the power of storytelling, comedy and just the tiniest touch of Christmas panto banter, with a world class meal and drinks. Prepared to be sleighed.
