Imagine being locked in a century old theatre after-hours; the lights are off, the actors are long gone and the curtains rustle in a non-existent breeze. Beware, the creaking of the floorboards is not the building settling, you might want to hold someone’s hand for this one. For those familiar with McKittrick’s renowned ‘Sleep No More’, the performance of Hammer House of Horror is set up as a classic vampire/ haunted-house take on the former. For the uninitiated, this is an immersive theatre experience where one moves from room to room, stumbling into, and out of scenes, as a Hoxton hive of vampires and their prey move around you. Running from Tuesday until Halloween this is a perfect, or horrific, first date, a vampire enthusiast’s chance to join a coven or an excellent way to get your adrenaline going before trick or treat season kicks off. Spine-tingling, frightening and sexy in equal measures; this event is far from PG-13.
