Mmm, a nine-course Japanese-inspired menu with all sorts of exotic things I don’t know how to pronounce, let alone guess what they’ll taste like. This sell-out series, Kaiseki by Kitchen Theory is running a multi-sensory event fusing art, film and seasonal food with personalised service, to provide an interpretative Japanese journey. The opening act of the evening is a short film by calligrapher, artist, and director Aerosyn-Lex Mestovic which was commissioned by Channel 4 and is described as a poetic performance piece exploring duality. The whole thing promises to be a very special journey to Japan via Westbourne Green and Kaiseki, a revered culinary tradition in an experimental presentation encompassing philosophy, and a Land of the Rising Sun dessert. Yum.
