Well, Michael Corleone’s speech about the rebels winning aside – the Godfather was well and truly right there – you wouldn’t have been wrong about Havana’s nightlife. Everything was available to tourists back then, but now you don’t have to bag a time machine to enjoy some old time Havana chic, courtesy of the Meanwhile Events crew. They’ve taken over Quayside Bar in Tabacco Docks for a rum-soaked, cigar-smoking event that’s channelling the hedonism of 40s & 50s Havana, with authentic sounds every night from ace Cuban bandleader Oreste ‘Sambraso’ Noda. Plus daiquiris, Cuba Libres and more classic drinks from Cocktail Trading Club and of course Cuban street food too.
