“Aren’t headphones brilliiiaaaaannnt?” Believe it or not, that’s a direct quote from Dr Dre himself after using a pair and deciding to become hip-hop’s first billionaire by making some and selling them. (Don’t believe that). But what a nice segue to lead me into this event, brought to you from the people behind For The Love Of Mic. Yep, as you can probably tell from the title of this whole piece, they’re going to be running London’s first ever silent disco hip-hop night. Throughout the night you’ll be able to choose between Garage vs Party Hip-Hop, Old-School Hip-Hop vs R&B, ’90s vs ’00s and, of course, Grime vs Afrobeats as a selection of DJs go head to head. These are always massively fun nights out and now you get to listen to even more music, plus you’ll also be able to have your photo taken with (a lifesize cardboard) Beyoncé. As with all the best hip-hop nights, the venue can be a bit hot on IDs, so bring it along with you just in case. We’ve got a pair of tickets to give to you, so first person to email here telling me where Kanye West got married gets them.
