Okay – you may have to bear with me on this one. Do you have 11 hours to spare this Sunday? Of course you do. Even if you’ve been guzzling pints on Saturday night, who better to pull you out of your hangover than Frodo and the gang? Enter as Gollum: weary and emaciated with nothing but a rag for pants; leave as Aragorn: the freshly crowned king. This is the greatest film trilogy of all time, and I’m certain no one would even try to fight me on that. With Middle Earth, Peter Jackson created a world so vivid that it accounts for approximately 100 per cent of New Zealand’s tourism in the last ten years (no shade to Flight of the Conchords). It’s an emotional rollercoaster. A really drawn out, 660-minute-long rollercoaster. But boy oh boy, what a ride.
