Anyone who has watched Grayson Perry’s fantastic ‘Born Risky’ short films on C4 will remember E-J, the fashion historian terrified of wearing a dress. The challenge he sets himself is one of the most moving moments in the series and this Friday sees the launch of an exhibition he crowdsourced and curated, the Museum of Transology. Featuring objects of personal importance from over 100 contributors who have transitioned, this will be the largest collection of trans artefacts and photographic portraiture ever to be displayed in the UK. Fitting with its location at the London College of Fashion, the exhibition also explores the ways in which the industry can break down the restrictive gender binary, from work by the progressive Brooklyn tailors, Bindle & Keep, to campaign materials featuring trans model Munroe Bergdorf. Plus, you can also catch screenings of FTM adult film icon Buck Angel’s documentaries and behind the scenes footage from the ‘Born Risky’ series.
