Do you remember your school report cards? Does ‘could try harder’, ‘is easily distracted’, ‘has more to offer’, or ‘I hate this kid’, sound all too familiar? And nowadays do you, like me, feel as though you could give anywhere between 90% and 95% more in the tasks you take up? Are you a self-saboteur of um.. yourself? ‘Just another four or five pints; I’ll be fine for the interview tomorrow’. Well, if anyone can help us Professor Steve Peters can. The writer of best-selling The Chimp Paradox and the man behind many of elite sport’s best performances (see 2012 GB Olympic Cycling), is speaking at The School of Life on Thursday evening. The lecture will cover his theories about the brain, how Id, Ego, and Super-Ego interact, and most importantly, strategies for managing your brain to achieve maximum – or at least better – performance. This is one class I am not going to miss. Get on the list.
