What better way to embrace these heady, sweltering evenings than to partake in a traditional Southern Crawfish Boil? Tipping their hats to the steamboats on the Mississippi river, SASSAFRAS London takes to the water and serves up its New Orleans feast on a boat. The venue is the Lady Daphne, moored in St. Katherine’s Dock, and the menu is a spicy, resplendent crawfish boil spilling with sweetcorn, artichoke and (for meat eaters) Andouille sausage. The food is topped and tailed either side with bourbon cocktails, tantalising Crab Remick and sweet Southern desserts and, to cement the spirit of the Bayou, they’ll have Jay, their resident trumpeter, infusing the night with the sweet sounds of NOLA jazz. A dizzyingly good way to spend a London summer’s eve. NB: BYOB for dinner.
