It’s an exciting time for poetry and spoken word in London at the moment. Second Home (the team behind the pint-sized bookshop, Libreria, in Spitalfields) are backing even more literary talent with a week-long series of events at their Holland Park address. Showcasing both established names and emerging talent in the scene, the five-day festival opens with poet, model and LGBTQ activist Yrsa Daley-Ward reading from her new memoir, The Terrible. Highlights include (but are not limited to): a triple bill reading from Andrew McMillan, Inua Ellams and Sabrina Mahfouz, poetry picnic and an open mic session with award-winning poet Anthony Anaxagorou in the courtyard. Coinciding with the launch of a new poetry bookshop at the West London collaborative workspace, this is an unmissable, invigorating shot of today’s powerfully disruptive poetry scene.
