You’re a thief. Your friend’s a thief. You’re probably related to a thief. If the stats are correct, we’ve all been affected by shoplifting in some way. Personally, I’m not ashamed to admit that I have friends serving lifetime bans from Our Price. Shoplifting is artist Lucy Sparrow’s new exhibition that puts the spotlight on this everyday criminality using her uniquely tactile and engaging approach. Sparrow’s won acclaim for sewing felt to produce art that gets you thinking…softly. In 2014 she filled a whole corner shop in Bethnal Green with felt goods, and last year she created Madame Roxy’s Erotic Emporium, a felt-stocked adult shop.
